I have used yahoo for years but will stop.. I purchased some domains and payed for the privacy not only did all of my information go public but I can't access my control panel and keep getting the worst help from customer service you cant even call it help. What site do you guys recommend?
godaddy for reliability, cheap price, and one simple fact that most domain buy/sell can be done easily with domain push with no transfer required as most buyers/sellers already use them Privacy is free as long as you register 5 or more, otherwise it is a bitch
internet.bs looks great just checked it out, does it register instantly and give access to domain panel instantly? id like to get this new site up and running tonight
of course, how else could it be? (well I have never used yahoos) CONS: neither of them take paypal as payment method and more expensive then GD (well unless your 1 domain with privacy situation)
thank you ! atxsurf you are like the domain expert lol - i use to use yahoo allot because i would use the 1.99 price and pay 10 dollars for privacy thinking it was a good deal... i was happy until recently they got so so bad that the privacy does not even show up all the time you buy it and you cant even log into your domain control panel often! I say RUN from yahoo, i never tried godaddy. but i really like this internet.bs system, lets just hope theres no BS! lol
Well, I would not call myself a domain expert in general, but I am well aware of different registrar offers. I would use 1.99 price without privacy any day and twice on sundays, but there was some catch with yahoo like one per customer or if you buy our hosting so I have never bothered. My current choice is GD for price, portability, and realibility reasons (internet.bs have had a series of outages recently), but internet.bs has much simpler interface that will never upset you with constant up-selling, Have not tried domainmonster yet, but their price on 25+ registrations are reasonable.
been using godaddy for a while..really happy with it. Even bought a few from dreamhost and bigrock and they both are equally good as well.
You could try IX Webhosting or Site5. They are both good with domains, though IX is cheaper and has a cleaner interface for management of your domains.
Moniker, NameCheap and sometimes GoDaddy if they got a sale. Yahoo is a reseller, they absolute suck when it comes to domains. Back in 2004 or so I purchased my very first domain from them, needless to say it was my last. They tried charging me $45 for renewall, I also had hosting with them and cancelled but they charged me for months after.
Thanks for the recommendation atxsurf. I'm Sam, the community manager for Domainmonster.com. If anyone has any queries about our services just PM me. We do offer free privacy with all the TLDs that support it. I can't speak for Internet.bs but we have them up and running instantly bar any registry issues. Most of the time you won't have a problem but due to the nature of EPP and the tight control some registries place over there TLDs there can be issues from time to time. The vast majority of registrars will have it up and running pretty much instantly, especially common TLDs like .com, .net and .org. However don't forget that if you are pointing to a different host, be sure to allocate some time for propagation which can take up to 48 hours in extreme circumstances [Ordinarily this happens within an hour or two]. This goes for any DNS change you make!
I would recommend hostgator and then second, go daddy. For cheapest price that includes whois privacy in the price, go with 1 & 1.
