Never Register Domains With Yahoo!

    Just so you know.

Never register domains with Yahoo!. They have serious problems with how they manage their services. I am unable to update my card details for a domain that I registered with them. Their online support suggests steps that aren't present in their running system. Be cautious the next time when you are going to register a valuable domain name with them.

    Yahoo! sucks!

Yahoo, GoDaddy, Hostgator all are same. It took me 7 months to get 1 domain transferred from GoDaddy to DirectI. GoDaddy did not provide me Domain Secret and its email system was not working at all :(

    Good luck.

Well, all I want to do is transfer my domains from Yahoo to GoDaddy at the moment.

    I need to know:

    1) How long will it take to transfer it to Godaddy?
    2) Is it easy or require some technical details?
    3) Will my site be down during transfer?

If anyone can answer them, I'd really appreciate it, because I haven't transfered any domain yet. Thanks.

Another good news for those who register their domains with Yahoo!

But once your account is deactivated, you CANNOT cancel your domains until you pay them another $9.95 for activation

If you aren't sure, contact them on their toll-free number at (866) 800-8092. :(

I tried Yahoo a few years ago. It was the absolute worst service I ever had.

i think enom is the best, my sites are on enom since last 3 years and i dont have any complaint against them,
though people found it a bit expensive than others, please dont run after claims of lower price. always stick to a reliable Reseller Registrar.

I have been with www.resellerclub.com for 4+ years never had a problem.. maybe you can check their service also.

I knew yahoo would charge high renewal fee... thats how they recoup on the pricing for first year... which they sell at a loss.

Maybe not directly connected to the subject but I wanted to warn people about Yahoo!

We've been using their 400gb transfer / 10 GB disk space hosting plan. But then we decided to upgrade to the new "unlimited" transfer & disk space hosting. After upgrading, I couldnt upload any files. When I asked their customer care, they told me that we were using more than the allocated space (?????). I replied them telling their reasoning is ridicilous for an "unlimited" hosting, but they even didn't reply back. So I moved all my 9 GB site to bluehost.com without any problems (their support & control panel is far more professional than Yahoo!'s)

And for the ones that wonder how to move away from Yahoo, it was easy for me to move my domain to bluehost.

The most important thing is that you must not cancel your service until you've got nothing to do with Yahoo.

    At Yahoo side:
    - Unlock your domain,
    - Edit your whois info and change the technical email to an email you can access (default is )
    -Get your authorization code
-Edit your whois info and change your name servers to the new company's name servers.
-Delegate your new company for the management of your domain.
-Normally as a losing registrar, Yahoo should contact you and ask you to confirm the delegation change. But their support sucks so they ignore you. Fortunately, there's a 7 day period that you have to wait before losing registrar "automatically" releases the delegation and the new company owns it.

I can forward all my conversation with Yahoo customer support to the ones who are suspicious about my bad experience. And I must say I spent lots of money trying to solve the situation over the phone at international rates - but no hope.

    Be aware,

    Best regards,

I never have used them before and proably wont. I am currently with GoDaddy but I think that I am going to be moving them all over to Enom or somewhere else, given GoDaddys support of scammers.
