    Does 'text links ads' count?

As in, textlinksads.com not showing up in SERP when searching for their domain?

Here is a bit about link exchanges & paid links:

To the SEO Professionals, I must ask the question: Will your customer be happy with a page 8 SERP position? Remember, we are paid to get pages on the first page.

Gee, why don't we go back to the time when a "Pretty Page" design was all that was needed to be great (dotCon...) and the SEs weren't really important.

When someone states that link building is wrong; they are a person that doesn't have the skill sets to do it.

Google gives recommendations that will make them happy. Our job is to push the limits. And Google has pushed back. When sites are designed only for selling links and Google gives them a PR0, then Google is telling us something.

Question: Why does the industry have "PAID DIRECTORIES"? I know, traffic...

This is all BS. They would never be able to detect until the placement is not too obvious. At the end of the day, they're just bots running code, not some AI.

One word....GARBAGE......I have ranked numerous websites in the top 3 for fairly competitive terms using primarily link exchanges and paid links. In fact I built, indexed, and ranked a website #7 in google in 48 hours for the term Scion Body Kits using ONLY link exchanges.

TextLinkAds.com aint there [except for their adwords campaign] but i dont know if they've actually been buying links, they just promote it so that will be why their de-indexed however it just goes to show Google are trying to crack down on this.

Obviously you can still get away with it if your careful and choose the right sites etc but the days are becoming numbered of manipulating the SERP's so the best bet would be to start learning the ways which won't get you penalized.

They were selling links. That is why they were de-indexed.

Show me proof that any site was de-indexed for BUYING links. Buying is the key word. The day that happens is the same day that google crashes. If it was true, you could wipe out any competitor in minutes by buying a sht load of links for them.

Buying links will not/ can not harm you!

Text ads can also be considered as Paid Links. Almost 90% of those top websites are having paid advertisement including Google themselves via Adwords. My bet is its still a long way for Google to stop or detect paid links just for PR

Word of mouth through webmaster forums, affiliates, and running programs like ShoppingAds (which may or may not be paying out in full).

    I second this.

buying links still improves rankings. that's why people are buying them.

what about 3 way link exchange?

In my opnion google is trying to corner the market. all advertising on the net which is not done through them is unwelcome.
    Sucks.

I am totally disagree with this point. The site with maximum inbound links is still Google. If www.google.com will be removed from their or any other search, I will believe this without making late of 1 second. But for this time I am sorry to reject your thought.
