    Hi,

As anyone of you faced issues with .us domain names in the past? I have been using one domain name for some time, and few months ago NEUSTAR contacted me to provide my details in order to authenticate if I live in USA or no. well, I don't live in USA so they confiscated my domain name just like that. Do you know if it is possible to buy .us domain in ANY way if I am not USA citizen ?

    Thanks,

Tell them you live at 1 main street NY, NY 11101.

I'm pretty sure a us address is actually a requirement of .us extension.

Well, I have already lost one address so just thinking about the future. As I am not sure if they got me because I was using my real outside us address ,or it was really a random check and I was so unlucky..

Using false information when registering a .US domain is a violation of Neustar’s Whois accuracy policy. If a domain is selected for a .US Nexus investigation, the listed registrant contact information will be scrutinized. Submitting false contact information will result in domain termination.

Below you will find the guidelines incorporated by Neustar in regard to .US Nexus compliance.

Registrants in .us must fall into one of three categories.

    1. "A natural person (i) who is a United States citizen, (ii) who is a permanent resident of the United States of America or any of its possessions or territories, or (iii) whose primary place of domicile is in the United States of America or any of its possessions.”

    2. " A United States entity or organization that is (i) incorporated within one of the fifty (50) U.S. states, the District of Columbia, or any of the United States possessions or territories, or (ii) organized or otherwise constituted under the laws of a state of the United States of America, the District of Columbia or any of its possessions or (including a federal, state, or local government of the United States, or a political subdivision thereof, and non-commercial organizations based in the United States).”

    3. "A foreign entity or organization that has a bona fide presence in the United States of America or any of its possessions or territories, who (1) regularly engage in lawful activities (sales of goods or services or other business, commercial or non-commercial including not-for-profit activities) in the United States; or (2) maintain an office or other property within the United States.”

Wow, You sign up here just for me? :) And yes, I got this "canned" response several times already, so human reply would be much more useful.

You can use the US domain for the business purpose whether you leave in US or not .Jut get the information collected to do so and proceed. I had similar kind of problem with my self storage company site .But this was not for the US it was for some another country.
