The Network Space Max uses a sleek black plastic case design similar to the cases found on LaCie's Network Space 2 or the Hard Disk Max. The Network Space Max connects to your home network using a gigabit ethernet connection. The drive can also connect to a computer through a USB 2.0 port.

The Network Space Max houses two hard drive mechanisms that can be configured as a RAID 1 or RAID 0. The drive can be used as a file server, and it also features Time Machine compatibility, an iTunes server for playing music stored on the Network Space Max, and off-site accessibility. The drive can also be used for media playback with any UPnPTM or DLNA device, such as a PlayStation 3.

The drive requires Mac OS X 10.5 or later, and Firefox 3.0, Safari 3.0, or Chrome 2.0 or later. LaCie offers a two-year warranty
