A blog of mine won't validate because the network started seeing the old blogger URLs. They've been gone (deleted) for months now, but for some reason the network has found the old URLs. Is there anything I can do? Is it all Google's fault?
Or, you could create a custom 404 page using .htaccess and put the coop ads on that. I don't know if this is against the coop TOS, so you might want to check that first. Josh
I don't get it. The old pages started showing up in the network again so my account won't activate. I've searched Google and it doesn't see the pages so I'm not sure how the network does. Argue.
I will be encountering this problem soon. As far as I know, you can't redirect your base URL, but according to this thread http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=17007 you can redirect other dead urls to a custom 404 error page with the co-op ads in it and still validate. As far as I know, that's not against the TOS of the co-op (I don't see anywhere in the TOS saying you can't and it apparently works).
Of course it will work Just create a sperate page, like 404.php that gives a short error message, then have the coop file included at the bottom. Then add: ErrorDocument 404 http://www.yoursite.com/404.php to your .htaccess file. Josh
I'll have to do that, but I'm still baffled on how the network finds those pages since they don't exist and haven't for months.
Well... the coop just does a google site: search, so Google is apparently still indexing your 404s Josh
I didn't think I could ind any in Google. Hummmm..... the wonder of the web. I'll work something out I'm sure. Or time will fix it.
I created a new custom 404 page, since my wordpress one wasn't working, with DP ads and that solved my problems.
