I have to upgrade a Netgear router to the latest firmware. It's quite outdated. Does anyone if the Netgear routers keep their settings or does the firmware upgrade wipes them clean and I would have to reconfigure? Thanks. Christoph
Did you read the docs on netgear.com? They should be able to tell you. Also, some routers have an export function where you can export the config to a text file and load it again after the upgrade.
I punted my netgear router across the warehouse 2 weeks ago. Changed to a linksys instead. I've been a ton happier since.
I use a combination of Linksys and Netgear devices. The Netgear is at the cable modem. Then a bridge take the wireless signal and feeds it into a Linksys Switch. From there it goes to a Linksys Printer server Switch and a Linksys wireless router. Anyway was able to upgrade this evening without blowing the configuration. Thanks. Christoph
lol - no, unfortunately not. The Linksys wireless router kills my VPN connections all the time and so I have to bypass it with one of the switches. The wireless Netgear router and wireless bridge deliver the Internet across 150 feet to where I need it. The other switch is the print server as well as I need it to split the connections through the house to feed all computers and my local server (home usage). Too many computers around the house ....
