netfirms / the registry - trustworthy sites?

Just came across these two sites:

netfirms.com offer .com domains for $4.95

    and

webspace2me.co.uk offer .com or .co.uk domains for £1

It seems too good to be true! Has anyone dealt with either website? Would like reassurances before I go domain crazy!

I find that if you go with the smallwer companies they do not make it easty to do things with your names make sure you do alot of reasearch and don't be sold on the low price

    I orderd a domain directhost.biz.
The registry ltd. took euro 37.26 and euro 2.1 from my credit card. They didn't mention the charge euro 37.26 for CG Merchant Account (To accept : Visa, Mastercard, Amex). The owner of the both the registry ltd. and Credit Geneva (Private Capital) Ltd are the same.
I think it is a gross fraud to reserve money from my account in that way.

The websites of the companies are following:
    http://www.webspace2me.eu/?gclid=CIybyse284YCFTBTQgodAxIXZw
    http://www.creditgeneva.com/

Domain directhost.biz is now owned by the owner of the companies Luca Di Consolo. But the companies got money from me for the domain.

i've got my money back from my credit card but the dispute has still to be resolved, once they take the money you are meant to sign into creditgeneva and put in the amount the took to be refunded within 10days, after 2 months it still hadn't been refunded

Its the webspace2me.eu rather than netfirms i think as when you register the domain through them they sign you upto creditgeneva using your credit card, who then take an amount off your card to verify it but they then refuse to refund the validation payment.

Someone has spent a considerable amount of time seeking vengeance against the Italian bloke who runs the webspace2me sites, and today the desired result can be seen.

He stole money from some bloke, but he made a big big mistake with him as the guy hated being ripped off and hunted the thief down. (give it up for nslookup and ripe.net whois!!) He reported them to Interpol, FBI, Metropolitan Police Internet Crimes units, whomever the heck was slightly interested, and then he went after the hosting companies, and the telephone number forwarding companies until something gave way. He implicated the hosters of the fraud sites in the crime itself and began to create bad press. After all, who really wants to do business with people who know crimes are being committed by their clients, and the hosting companies allow it to happen?

As a result, ALL of the sites have now been taken down. This includes the following...

    webspace2me.net/eu/co.uk/com/biz
    creditgeneva.com/eu/net
    http://www.company4me.co.uk/
    http://www.e-filling.co.uk/
    http://www.bizeer.com/
    http://www.1ukreg.co.uk/
    http://www.reg-company.co.uk/
    http://www.go-formation.co.uk/
    http://www.1step-reg.co.uk/
    http://www.formation-shop.co.uk/
    http://lowinformation.co.uk
    www.registry-uk.co.uk/
    www.register-fast.co.uk/

If you have been ripped off by this scumball, you need to CLOSE the account that you used to purchase your domain name with, and get your bank to open up a completely new account with a new card and a new account number. This is the only way that you will guarantee yourself that this cartel can no longer withdraw from your account.

It seems that the banks are powerless to proactively protect your bank account against future withdrawl attempts from the same account that you used to trade with these crooks, so a new one is necessary. The chap in question had to do this, as he had been stung by the same game. He had his funds returned by his credit card company and has learned the following lesson...

    Before you purchase online....

1 - If a deal seems too good to be true, it is too good to be true.
2 - Before you purchase something, google it 100 times to see what others think of the company.

I came accross this thread searching on google, and this is EXACTLY what has been happening to me. I registered a domain with these stupid people and they keep charging my credit card, I have to file chargebacks, but I cannot close the account until the chargebacks have been filed, but they continue to charge the card! Is there any way to stop these charges without closing the credit card? Any advice is appreciated. thanks

If your credit card company are any good they can block requests for payment from certain companies, this is whats happening to mine at the moment all payments are being rejected.
