netfirms is asking my credit card details???????

    Hi guys,

    have you ever bougth a domain from netfirms?

    i just when and try it, I usually go for godady

    but I wanted to know how is netfirms,

    after I got my domain, I receve and email from them

    here is the email:

    To finalize your order we require proof of ownership of the credit
    card. Please send a fax or scan of the front and back of the credit card
    used for this purchase showing only the last four digits of the credit
    card number.

    As orders are time-sensitive, this request must be received within the
    next 2 days at:

    I wrote back to them, that no way im willing to this, I rather loose

    $ 4 then loose my card, any of you guys got this before?

    its in the wrong board, there is another domains talk board for this, ask to have this moved please

    and dont trust that email, sounds scamish, although i've never used netfirms before but ask for a scan?? wtf

    This happens to those who are flagged with many chargebacks, seldom the credit card processing will ask for such information to avoid chargebacks.

    Not many companies do this, but those who do require such thing will barely get any chargebacks because of stolen numbers.

    Also this thing is a one-time thing with each company.

    I have dealings with Netfirms before - taking up their cheap offers and stuff.

    It's their practice to require your to send proof of credit card ownership even for things worth a few dollars. They've a list of blacklisted countries. If you don't like their attitude don't buy from them.

    I did it one time , send the jpeg version of my card and had no problems , I like the way they are while transfering out , you confirm form the panel and the domain is transferred asap.You don't have to wait 4-5 days.

    I didnt fax, I just called them, but they were nice to me, so Im happy now
