Howdy mates, :S I wanna discuss something, yesterday i went to my teacher's house. Who has Windows 7 registered in his Acer laptop. I connected Dialup connection, in simple xp it gives 2kb per sec, after connecting it to W7, it was running as a DSL CONNECTION :/ That might be giving 17 18 KBPS. What is the connection between net speed and w7?
simply no relation. xp might be having virus on it , so consuming bandwidth but from 2kbps - to dsl seems weird
Just for clarification...I don't think 17-18 kbps is considered DSL, that is very much still Dial-up. DSL is generally measured in mbps (megabits per second). But as kodut said, the XP machine may have had a virus; or, because of the nature of Dial-Up, it may have just been a different time of day and less people were online, producing a faster speed.
Doesn't XP reserve some of the connection for updates and such? http://www.theeldergeek.com/qos_bandwith_reserve_setting.htm Maybe Win7 doesn't.
Well, there is not relation between both. I even get sometime 22KBps on Windows XP via a dial up connection. - Mr.President -
