I think either one is credible enough. I usually think of .org sites as actual organizations - something goverment related or non-profit or educational. I think of .net as a more professional sort of site - a business, a community, etc. etc. So if it were a music forum, I would probalby pick a .net site name.

In terms of SEO I don't think it matters too much.

I usually buy from godaddy.com - cheap and easy to manage.

1&1= nightmares, do a research to find out why

NET domains at RegisterFly $2.99 with code "NETSPECIAL"
ORG domains $1.99 valid until June 1, dotfrog.com

Other good places: domainsite and dynadot, apart of the overvalued godaddy that is not that bad, but not as good either... after tons of months I cannot figure out stil how to create my own nameservers there, but in the other registrars is a piece of cake.

    Avoid registerfly.com.
In case you will need any support from them you are doomed.

Strange post indeed, because after 4 years being customer at Registerfly I've have always friendly support and all my issues resolved.... contrary to the unreachable Godaddy almost-mythological support service.

Is your problem regarding GD nameservers related to the settings? i.e. If you wanted to park your domains at Namedrive or Sedo and not knowing how to enter the nameserver details of these parking programs or a nameserver of somewhere else?
I am not sure if this is what you meant but if this is what you meant i could easily instruct you how to do this :)
