Why not try to learn both. Once you learn a programming language, it should be easy to learn any other language (it is just the difference of syntax/built in methods) you need to learn.

In the current market it appears .Net would be a winner in my opinion. They're both good languages. Once you learn one you should pick up the other easily with their similarities.

Accounting to more feature and more salaries JAVA is best programming language. But Asp.net is easy then java programming language.
I would like to suggest you ... learn both language.

As everyone before has said — it's best to know both.
Start with .net, because it's slightly easier, but then be sure to learn JAVA immediately. In my experience, companies look for JAVA people more often, and also pay them more. The extra effort in learning is worth the extra cash.

I have friends who are in IT / programming and I often hear that people with programming skills in Java are on very good salaries but the opportunities are limited, whereas, there are lot more opportunities for .net programmers but salaries are not as good. This is for UK market but not sure how is it like in other countries.

I would go with Java, easy to transition into Android SDK for app development and the most valuable language in my opinion. I regret not finishing that class in college
