For resale, nothing is better than a .com
For SEO, .COM and .NET will yield similar results
For development, I would go with a local name (.ca for Canada or .us for USA)
The trends are moving towards local, so there is a lot of value in good market cctlds.
Also, marketing locally is easier and competing for top SERPS are also easier if you are targeting a local audience

 

Go for .com always
Go for .net if .com
not available..
or else, go for .org
or then .de

 

It is easy to sell .com domain as compare to .net, if your .net domain doesn't has good ranking in google

 

you definitely should buy BOTH of .COM and .NET
if u r planning to sell good domain names by good prices you should retain both extension. cuz serious buyers ask both of them. then they direct them eachother.

Personally, i will look for .com first then .net then org. .im and other didn't cross my mind before.

 

depends if it sounds better with your website's name
Also .net is good for non-commercial websites

If you are looking to make money I personally wouldn't bother with anything but .com. But don't take me wrong there is still money in others but this is what I would focus on.

.com will be always in first choice. Because its really easy to remember and sounds professional. If you have networking business then even .net will be cool.

 

I have about 103 domains and out of it 14 were .Net domains....

Till date I have not recieved any offer for .Net domains...

This is just my opinion. People when they get to web browser they usually will type keyword and end with .com. Because .com already in their mind. When the page is pointed to wrong page, then the best way is to change to .net/.info or others.

 

I would always try to stick with dot COM, specially in this slow market.

 

most of people will directly type .com instead of .net. So, go for .com is better I think.
