.com with hyphen ............. .com rocks ...... look at the site of text-link-ads.com ....... you will get better idea!!
.com is great but in this case prefer .net because of the hyphen, having a site with - will lead to giving more hits to the competitor site without a hyphen
I would stay with .com coz sometimes its even better from search engine results EG: Search "Download MP3" results you better download-mp3.com than downloadmp3.com Though its more brandable without the hyphen but if your expecting traffic from search engines then brandable is just something from the past. There is an exception if you are a big company and can advertise with a big budget..
content is the king. IF your site is poor the domains would mean nonthing even it's a .net. The best make money online blog is problogger.net So, domain has nonthing to do with your site if you don't have good content but it's still needed for seo.
hyphens is worst in the seo it takes 2nd position after all tld non hyphens but in the sight of the visitors the .com is better cause it is easier for IE users to enter with just CTRL+Enter notice if you gonna depend on banners advertising and so on I'd prefer net
Go for .net, as visitors forget about hyphens when they type in your address, you will be sending traffic to the competition who owns the domain name without the hyphen.
