.net domains today

Discussion in 'Domain Names' started by uca, Sep 17, 2005.

I feel as if .net domains are falling out of favour.

If so, I suppose that there are many reasons, what do you think, is it really happening and if it is, why?

    Thanks!:)

I would really have to disagree. The .NET is still the second most valued extention in terms of having to a name. Falling out of favour, dont think so either... I'd rather have a .NET then a dot US or BIZ or ORG in many cases.

I agree with INV, with the caveat that .org, in some cases can be better. But that's just splitting hairs.

Although the .net extension isn't as valuable as the .com equivalent, it is still an excellent extension and a domain using it can rank as highly in the serps.

It may not hold the same value as a .com when it comes to domain name buying/selling but losing favour ... I don't think it is by any means.

Hold on, I mean that .net domains are becoming a little less popular, not that .biz domains are catching up!

A few years ago I think that the .NET top-level domain was quite solidly the second choice domain name. IMHO it's still second choice today, but perhaps not by the same margin above the lesser TLDs.

My personal prediction is that we'll see .US domains become more popular in years to come, but I think it will be a long while before .NET loses its second place spot.

OK, that's more or less what I think also.

Have you noticed that more .net domains are dropped?

Have you noticed that there are more special offers for .net domains than others (excluding .info doms)

Have you noticed that ccTLDs are more and more sought after?

I don't know the registration stats, but I'd like to. I think that that's the way it is.

Do you agree, at least to a certain degree?

For personal uses, I think *.net is still welcome and prevailing.
For comapny uses, surely it is not a good choice.
