Any of you nervous flyers? Going to PubCon will be the first time I have flown in several years and I am feeling a bit anxious, any other sissies in here?
I am absoutely terrified by planes, I honestly don't know how I will be able to fly to Vancouver. Even while I was watching Flightplan at the cinema I was grabbing so hard to my seat I think I broke it
Yeah I was looking at our itenerary today and started sweating. It's not the flying that scares me, it's the takeoff and landing
Last week I had a flight with a friend who hates airplanes. I switched my seats at the check-in kiosk so I wouldn't have to sit next to him. My mom is so afraid that she hasn't flown in 20 years.
I've flown since I was very young, so I guess it never bothered me. I think when you get used to something early on, you don't really think about it. You just do it.
The guy I am flying with said quit whining it's just like a bus. I have always been nervous, I have a fear of heights so that might be it.
I am far more scared of cars, particularly if it's not me driving. I often fall asleep on takeoff and wakeup on landing. I enjoy the food and the radio, the movies and whatever else, if I'm not asleep!
I say don't worry about it. Just think positive and try to relax. Once you land safely you will see that it wasn't so bad.
I hate planes, no control, no reserve, no second chance, but strap me into a paraglider and I'm flying high.
Yea that's so true,my daughter has been flying since she was 8 yrs old with her granddaddy on her dads side--she love to fly--but me i've sort of scare--it would take a lot of work to get me in a plane--
Sorry, I just thought it was neat. Take a Xanax pill or something. That's what I do for overseas flights. I'd go nutts if I couldn't get comfortable for 15 hours!
I'm scared everytime that I drive. I've never caused an accident (a couple times I bumped into someone though), but I've had about 200 "almost accidents" and everytime I drive, it seems like I'm doing something that I shouldn't really do. I have no clue where that is coming from, only thing I know is that I get sidetracked very easily. Being a passenger is cool, unless he drives like me. Then I get really worries feeling like I have someone I need to babysit without being able to operate the vehicle myself.
I think it's something you just get use to. When I worked in the real world there was a few years when I was on a plan weekly. I spent 4 nights a week in hotels... which was fun at first but got old quick. BTW.... have a good flight palespyder. LV is one of the easier places to fly into.
I ran a red light and totalled two cars. But other than that I've been pretty safe. Flying has never really made me nervous. Except the one time we had to do an emergency landing in St. Louis a few years ago. My hands were sweaty and I was thinking about what it would be like to crash and burn in the airplane. Flying into San Fran. is always exciting!
Funny you mention that.... the bumpiest flight I was ever on was coming back from Skiing in Colorado... flying into SF. When the flight attendants sat down (and strapped in) in the back next to us and said "I have never felt it this so bumpy before" we freaked a little. It was one of those flights where everyone clapped when we landed in SF.
