Neil Young is recovering from minimally invasive brain surgery Thursday, April 07, 2005 Singer-songwriter Neil Young is out of hospital and expected to make a full recovery after undergoing surgery in New York for a potentially fatal brain aneurysm. 'He's out of the hospital and recuperating in New York,' the 59-year-old rock legend's agent, Bob Merlis, said on Monday. Young underwent what doctors described as 'minimally invasive neuroradiology' last week, after an MRI scan - conducted after Young complained of blurred vision - revealed a dangerous brain aneurysm.
Great news, he is a giant figure in Rock and a great friend of Robert Plant. He played with Zep at their induction into the Rock & Roll hall of fame, great set also Minstrel, you have to get the video. PS: If you are nice I might send you a copy one day.....
He is indeed... one of the great rockers and innovators and still owner of "most distortion ever used in a rock recording" for Hey hey, my my (Out of the black)...
I have always enjoyed singing and playing guitar to Neil Young songs. He has developed a unique guitar style, and his lyrics can be inspiring. Rockin' In The Free World is one of the most popular sheet music downloads for musicians, and I have it on my website, if there are any musicians out there in Digital Forum Land. cheers bceagle
He's also the only musician I know who wrote a love song for a car (Long May You Run). Yeah, there are lots of car songs (Little GTO, I Get Around, Fun Fun Fun) but not like Neil's
I never knew Long May You Run was about a car, and I sing and play that song all the time. Now, I will be thinking all the old cars I have had when I do the song. I also have something else to mention when I do perform his songs at venues. I do remember reading somewhere, where Neil is fond of antique cars, and has a collection of old cars on a farm somewhere. cheers bceagle
and here I was, thinking (and relating to) of the reference to a chrome heart in the song meant the cold heart of a love relationship. anyways, I clicked on your band of gonzos link and may join the forum. I really would like my site to be reviewed, or at least give an opinion. It has almost disappeared in Google, so I feel I am doing something not right. I was hoping I would be singing 'long may you run' to my websites, but right now, it looks they are stalling out. cheers bceagle
Crosby, Stills and Nash were hollow without Neil Young. What was his anti - commercialism song? That took kajones I get chills when I hear this song, it is still one of my all time favourites: http://www.thrasherswheat.org/fot/ohio.htm Neil Young Lyrics Analysis (Ten posts, please be soon!)
Stills was always jealous of the attention Neil Young got. If you've ever heard any of Stills' solo efforts, that's not surprising.
I met a stage manager at a bar in Kent, Ohio, we had a few beers and were talking about the biz. He told me that Stills was an uppity jerk that would not even look the average man in the eye. He thought he was better than everyone else and fact is that he is not
I always felt Stephan Stills was a great songwriter, but his singing was not strong enough, and sounded like he needed to clear his throat. Neil Young, on the other hand, had a very unique singing voice, and seemed to master singing false eto. Singing that way often does not project, but Neil overcame that, with clear singing. I believe for a singer to be good, there lyrics have to be heard. I often find it diffucult hearing the words when Stills sings, but not with Neils singing. cheers bceagle
To the gutless spineless weasel [*] who left me the anonymous negative comment regarding this thread saying "Who cares?? This is a (sic) seo forum", did you not notice that this is the General Chat forum? That's what it's for... if you don't want to read such threads, don't read them. Apparently a few people actually did care... did you not notice that? [*] aka SK/FM - who knows who he is
Mr. Young has epilepsy. I wonder if the brain aneurysm is related. His music has depth/feeling to it. One of these days I'll probably get around to buying one of his albums.
Your showing your age Bernard, "Records" is a term "old folks" use, kids call em "CD's". Bernard you can get your Neil Young Records at the Flea Markets real cheap, that is where I buy all my LP's
Whatever they call em I ain't wearing one like these kids do, I think they call em IPODS or something Bernard, I think you implant this device in your skull and it just plays music non stop. In my day we used 8 Tracks and what you call Albums and a turn table
