Hey everyone, I've been extremely distressed this past month after remembering I have a negative PayPal (that has since been locked) with false information on it. It was around negative $80 USD. I know people have had this problem before, but I need some help. I worked myself into tears last night thinking I'd be sent to prison for identity fraud. The negative PayPal balance occured as a result of me being scammed by someone who decided to chargeback for virtual goods I sold him. I never tried to intentionally defraud anybody, but I know PayPal takes the loss as a result of this. This PayPal account was created last year and is currently locked. I guess I just feel incredibly upset with the situation (even though I'm probably blowing it out of proportion). I just wish I had paid them back earlier, but I thought absolutely nothing of it at the time. I haven't heard anything from PayPal about the situation thus far aside from the routine emails (probably because they can't get in contact with me). I've been having moral struggles with myself on whether or not I should call them; as I have absolutely no problem paying this debt off even though I was scammed. I am NOT worried about the money owed, simply the idea that they could take action for my fake information. Should I call them or am I being ridiculous? If I were to call them, what would they say to me? Should I just forget about this? I need peace of mind because this situation is incredibly upsetting to me. Please post. Thank you all very much in advance for your input.
The fake information was strictly for privacy purposes, I worry about my information being relayed to every person I interact with. My address is personal and private.
If anybody cares or is having the same problem I had, this is for you: They were called up and were extremely understanding and helpful. I am in the process of paying them back and everything will be fine. Don't create false PayPal accounts if you are worried about security because they are a very secure company and handle your information with a lot of care. Also, don't go searching around on the internet and different forums for advice, scaring yourself and making mountains out of mole hills. Nip the problem at the bud and call up their customer support line; they are people too. I am very happy with PayPal and their customer support department. Kudos.
