    hi guys,

I have just created an adwords campaign and I have chosen the following keywords:

    IT training
    It courses
    IT course
    -IT

What I meant is that i only want my adverts to appear when someone searches for the 2 words together as the IT field is too big.

I didn't do "it training" because someone can search for training in IT

Is what I did ok or is totally wrong.

Another thing: i have just put money in my account but i can't see my adds when i type it training.

Please a very quick and short answer will do. thanks in advance

    Here's what I would do:

add your words in both phrase match and exact match in all possible combinations you think of (when you use phrase and exact matches, your ads won't show if one of the words is missing fro the actual search phrase):

    "IT training"
    [IT training]
    "It courses"
    [It courses]
    "IT course"
    [IT course]

Yeah, How can you have IT training show up when you're telling google that you don't want the word IT to show your ads?

    hei everyone,

I know it sounds silly but my reasoning looked really logical to me.

I wanted IT training to appear when both terms appear in the search phrase by themselves or with any other words, i.e training in IT.

However, i didn't want my ad to appear when IT appears in the search phrase by itself.......BUUUUUUU. Doesn't matter. :p

I followed ohadgliksman advice and it is working. well it was working, my adds appeared in the first position in google. However, they are not appearing anymore:( and what it's worst, I don't know why.

There is so many things about adwords, I don't know how you guys can take everything in and understand it.

    Thank you all.

    Aspasa,
To see why your ads have dissapeared please check the following:
    1. Broad Negative keywords - did you add any negative broad keywords that block your keywords such as IT (broad is without [] or "" around the keyword)
    2. Daily spend - are you utilizing your daily spend too fast?
    3. Disapproved ads - have your ads been disapproved?
    4. language and country targetting - have you changed these settings?

    hi everyone,

Thank you very much for your help. You are right, it is because of the daily spend - it just goes too quickly.

I have set it up with £10 a day and it has finished already. The word is not very popular cos is a small training industry market but is expensive. sometimes I pay £1.48 for a keyword. and there is only 20 advertisers, so i don't know why is so expensive.

I decided to opt out the Adwords "content match network"

what do you guys think? ta

I wouldn't quit on the content network yet.
while it is not as effective as the search network it has much more impressions.
My advice to you is to separate the search and the content to 2 campaigns and manage them as two different entities.
Some of my customers have found the content network to yield much lower cost per lead and I just wouldn't write it off too soon if I were you

    hi ohadgliksman,

I have put it back but money is going too quick!! buaaaaa!!!
I wouldn't mind to spend it if I knew that my competitors are spending it aswell. However, I have the feeling that they are not paying as much as i am cos they are up all the time in the 1st and 2nd position. when my money is ok i am on the 1st and 2nd position aswell but in 7 clicks, the £10 are gone.

I have checked in Yahoo's bid tool and I saw that they are paying a Max. Bid of 0.11. Ohadgliksman, do you think they are spending much more money than me? Maybe they know a way to put bids down. I must say that google must love them because they've been up there for at least 10 months. That is why I decided to do it. I though they must have been making loads of registration/money.

Perhaps i am doing something wrong, which is quite probably. I did the advert so people register to my site.
    And the analitics don't work

You need to add IT as a negative EMBEDDED match.

    Remove: -IT
    Replace it with -[IT]

This means that searches for "IT" alone will not show your ad but searches for "IT training" WILL show your ad.

PM me if you would like more help.

    Aspasa,
It seems like there are more then enough searches on a daily basis in your area of expertise.
You might want to lower your bids and see if your ads still appear.
Your actual price per click is based on your max bid as well as your quality score which is calculated by your CTR, landing page relevancy and other factors as well. If you'll keep working you can probably get a good position for your ads and pay less.

BTW, how about using ad scheduling and showing your ads during the relevant hours only? That might really help if your budget is limited
