Negative iTrader on DP, is there a point?

So I've been scammed twice on DP (out of like 40 transactions so perhaps not so bad), both times for a small amount of money that I'm not too bothered about. I want to give them a negative iTrader so people know, assuming they come back which one of them will not I'm sure, but what's to stop them doing the same back to me just out of spite? So the only feedback anyone is likely to get is positive or none at all.

Sorry if this is a stupid question or it's been asked a gazillion times before, or if it's in the wrong place, but it just occurred to me. I'm not really asking for advice as such, just musing over whether or not the feedback system in general is flawed - not just on DP but on eBay etc too. Are positive feedbacks to be taken with a pinch of salt do you think if people will not give negative feedbacks in fear of earning one in return?

well the experienced and long term members know how to investigate and actually read the threads. I personally will look at the negative itrader thread to see what happened. some unfortunately dont. so its really your call. if its not that big of a deal then just let it go. post in the thread instead and make it big and bold lol

If you are being honest and that person deserves a negative iTrader or whatever then its worth taking one to help others. I would surely give a negative iTrader if someone was either a scammer or what have you. That's why its there to help. Sure you're gonna recieve one in return but isn't it worth it to alert others about someone who scammed you or did a bad trade?

I know it's sad to get a negative itrader in return, but some will check out the deal and see you are not at fault.

Well I think I will do it, but I'm wondering how many people do not because of the reasons I mentioned? On DP you have the threads to check up on, which is good, but on places like eBay you only have the feedback - so I'm thinking it's not that reliable because hardly anyone will give negative feedback for fear of getting it themselves, so the reason most eBayers etc have 100% feedback is because they either get good feedback or none at all (if they were bad).

I know there's nothing to be done about it, I'm just musing really.

That's what happened to me. I had a buyer not pay me. Then when I gave him the red i-trader he gave me some in retaliation.

I think it would be better if there was a set amount of time within which each user had to give i-trader for a transaction or never be allowed to give i-trader for that transaction. During that time, each user's i-trader rating for the other could be kept private until after the time is up. That would stop people from being able to give retaliation i-trader.

    Thanks,
    Scott

I think you did bring up a good point here. I saw some of members here have bad itrader but seems like he/she can still continue moving around. Senior DP members might aware and cautious but not new members. They could just go around doing a few good trades and then scam once. After that moving back to doing good trades before scamming again.
