Negative issues of PageRank

Ive searched the forums for this but couldnt find it.

There are a few advertising companies out there that wont advertise unless you have a certain amount of PageRank.

This algorithm that has given us better results, also seems to have created the need for people to spam. This really anoyes me (understatement, i cant think of a better word) to say the least.

Why is that? For me, who is honest wouldnt dream of spamming, it means others will get accpeted into advertising programs and make money, not because there site was any good but because they spammed thousands of websites to achieve it, causing hundreads of man hours to be clocked up with people removing the comments and the users generated by them.

Dont get me wrong, pagerank is great, without it we wouldnt have a good a search system today, but google publicly making PageRank available was for me, a bad idea. Now initally I though PageRank was a great idea, dont get me wrong. But after the last few months and seeing what people do just to get PR has got me thinking about it and its negative impact.

    What do you think?

Even if google did not list page ranks people would find ways to copy high ranking sites and links. They would also spam sites no matter what if they think they can make money.

One thing that makes no sense is how many people spam sites that have follow links. The fact they do shows that they are using software to make the posts and never go to the sites. They are looking for easy money and will do anything to get it.

I am concentrating on building traffic instead of PR.
