negative experience marketing site through myspace bulletins

Just wanted to share with you my bad experience with myspace bulletins.

I decided to give a try to this way of site promotion and purchased such service from few guys on forum. They all were very supportive and sent my bulletin as promised (I was subscribed to their accounts so I could see message sent + I have no reason not to believe them).

Bulletin was sent to roughly 70,000 members. Guess how many hits I got ?
    70..

Now I have to try promotion with articles :)

Sorry to hear you didn't have much look with your advertising.

Can I ask what your site is about and is it relevant to the MySpace friends that was sent the bulletin? If the demographics for the groups didn't fit in with the your site then results are bound to be poor.

Also getting clicks can depend on how your bulletins are worded, the time your bulletin is sent etc.

Yep, I've had plenty of bad experiences with bulletins, but I've had plenty of bad experiences with almost every other advertising method too!

70 hits is better than 0.

The site i promoted was free adult fun portal (you know, those funny pics and such). I guess it quite fits myspace profile. Probably the wording was unsuccessful, but I doubt it could be so bad :)

Some say it's all a numbers games, maybe if you set up multiple free accounts with cool looking layouts on each, then add some of the funny video's to your profiles, send out friend requests and post your own bulletins you might get the traffic your looking for.

Most myspace marketers will tell you to set up female profiles and maybe stick up an image of a sexy looking young thing. That way you should get more friend requests to you and when they visit your profile to check you out they will see you have funny videos.

If they like what they see they will tell their friends and you will have more visitors, making your profiles viral marketing aids.

Your video's should include links back to your Website which will then direct your Myspace visitors to your website :)

It will cost you nothing but time. If you don't have the time, do what all the Guru's do...... outsource the work.

I can help you there. I've just set up a service that provides sets of Myspace accounts with Layouts in packs of 50.

If anybody is interested in saving some time PM me for full details.

Sounds interesting, but how to measure expected traffc and time you need to deliver it + how much would it cost ?

MySpace demographics is a very subtle factor here. Most of these are ***social circles *** and respond better to straight entertainment (music, videos) offers that are similar to MySpace content pages (videos, pictures, music). Trying to sell mainstream offers there is possible based on # of users but the ratio of eyeballs to buyers would be very low -- similar to buying run-of-site ads on Yahoo email service for example.

Non-targeted offers / offers to non-targeted demographics normally result in 1/1000 click-through. That would not surprise anyone. Google Adwards and relevant affiliate links are a total different story because of their relevance.

    Hope this helps.
