I am planning to expand by blog eMoneyMakingOnline.com that is already ranking good in Google and other search engines. My plan is to build a brand around the blog and scale it as a large business. There are more than 600+ blog posts published as of today and it is 3 years old domain.

Is it a good idea to change the keyword based domain name into a catchy brand name (a short domain name) ?

    what's your opinion ?

    Thanks.

Since you already rank well, i not think is a good idea to change he domain name because you may lost your keywords that you target and target to the new domain keyword that you place.
Unless your visitors able to find you even you change your brandname , if not you may need to generate those traffic back to your blog.

    i would do like that:
First month just direct your new domain's nameservers to old one.
Second month use google's 301 redirection tool and carry old domains content to new one. don't delete old domain and direct its nameservers to new one (you may want to use .htaccess redirection as well)
Watch the google carries old domain to new one day by day.

Do not change your domain name, as it is 3 years old.

Keep the domain name because you rank well, if you change it you may not rank well for your current keywords.

This might be a good solution. (thumbup)

Also, I know go f*ck yourself shortened her brandname to GFY, but did neither decrease her traffic nor users' interest. I am not so sure whether people will recognize you as EMMO quickly, give it some time anyway.

Lutfucan is right. First use a redirect, then use google webmaster tools for the change of domain so that you will get back the links. Also, brand is actually more effective in the long run, traffic is what you get in a couple of years, but brand stays with you for life.
