I'm having a stats program made and I'd like to ask your opinion on the colors used to display stats. Any preference on colors at all? Do you prefer lighter colors? Does having a bright colored skin or fonts make a difference? What would be the ideal colors to use to display your stats? Thanks
I personally prefer webalizer since it provides a large amount of text info and runs very quickly. analog is nice if you shut off the millions of meaningless pie charts but it's hard to get a nice overall picture. Summary is GREAT for downloaded log files. There's a popular one that provides some great analytics, but I can't recall the name and couldn't get it to cooperate with cpanel. (Cpanel and for that matter Dreamhost are fairly restrictive regarding stats.)
Thanks Davert. The program we are having made will display the stats from ALL affiliate programs that the user is currently using. I'm working with the graphic artist and trying to decide on a color scheme to display those stats. What colors are easiest on the eyes? Any preference on using color or not?
Colors definitely help to differentiate different statistics clearly but having said that excessive use of colors is not good. User will be intimidated by colors. Look at some popular stat program like webalizer, awstat (Cpanel), statcounter, etc to see how they do it..
