Hey everyone, I'm new around here. I hope that this is the right forum, if not please let me know. Well, I'm looking at building an startup where the product will be websites. Basically users simply sign up and they can get their websites live in a couple of clicks after payment is made. They can choose the design from a set of pre-made templates. They will have the option to move things around in the template, giving them some freedom to customize their page. They will also be able to purchase add-ons to the website if needed(think of plugins in Wordpress). So all in, the business is basically a premium sort of website builder, some combination of wix and others but tailored to specific users. Now my problem is my name. I am currently looking at 2 possibilities: 1. PyTree - Name is simple. But it still makes no sense to me. I Just like how it sounds. I chose PyTree mainly because I was gonna build it on Python and I wanted tree in the name. I found this available and it sounded nice. 2. Materializr - Looks like a cool name but my friends say otherwise. What would you people suggest about the above names? Maybe if you have other ideas or selling some nice domain, post them here as well Thanks DPers
PyTree and don't try to explain it Easy to spell to people. Short. Materializr is a dog, don't use it.
What do you mean by "is a dog"? I'm pretty new here, not sure about this description. Also, do you think PyTree might actually work as a good name?
It's slang for "not good" I'm sure there are other good names but if you already own this it'll do well. It's pronounceable, spellable, short, memorable
I vote for PyTree. Materializr is a mouthful and difficult to explain. PyTree, on the other hand, is short, simple and easy to pronounce. Looks like a winner to me. Imagine this: "....you can visit materializr.com for more info." "Materializer?" *now imagine having to explain it again to countless other people*
My advice spend $5 or $10 in Fiverr , there are lots of guys there who will find domain names which meets a set of criteria. For example you can tell them to come up with names with a specific length, and that the .com should be available for registration etc.. they will brainstorm and come up with 5 or 10 names you can choose from. And if you get a list of names, you can run a poll or create a survey in Google Consumer Surveys so that the people can choose the best. That is my process when it comes to choosing a name
I actually went that route. The last time I checked fiverr was couple years ago when it looked so weird. It's amazing how it changed over the years and I'm waiting on the results of my order now. Hopefully it's a well-spent $15.
PyTree is not but not best. Why not try other extensions like .io, .org etc. You can find a far better name in those extensions. PM me if you need help.
Yeah no need to explain what PyTree is and think about how you'll describe it as a site, and also think about it as a brand. A
