I am in the process of building a website for a company. I am planning to use the Thesis theme and built a site over it. To give it a more pro look, I want to have the home page completely built in flash and rest of site and navigation will be done in worpress. I would like to retain the header of flash to ensure consistency throughout the site. I need your ideas, is it feasible? If not what can I do to go for a professional look. I don't want the plain look of a blog. ( at least on the home page)
if it's a corporate website i dont think that WP is suitable.. Go for a more suitable cms like joomla.. answering to your question, of course it's feasible. You can do anything with wordpress.
i think WP can do for corporate website, you just need to find a suitable themes and play with it. flash intro and header will work fine, but you must consider the speed of flash loading, if you have fair internet connection your site will "heavy". good luck
If you want to build the corporate website, better if you have commercial Domain and Hosting. Why? because with commercial Hosting, you have special Control Panel. I can not recommended the WP to put the data for corporate website. Regards
How do you propose doing the whole home page in Flash? Or are you deliberately trying to make your home page ungoogleable and inacessible to some users (those without Flash, those using screen readers, etc etc; bearing in mind that yes there are ways to make Flash accessible to both humans and bots but most people don't seem to take that into account)? However having a Flash header (assuming header does not mean anything like site navigation or anything important) can be done just fine. I'm sure it's a matter of opinion as far as whether flash "looks professional" or not, and if it talks (makes sound) it's definitely going to be a Jar-Jar Binks for you guys (tell me you like www.tevreden.nl and how it just starts blabbing at you). Also keep in mind that for many people, their first look at your home page will be some sort of LOADING... message. Depending on what the site it about, people may not see the value in waiting for something to load. For a gaming site, I think people would. For a banking site, I think people would not. If you sell plumbing supplies, definitely not : )
