    Hi friends,
    I need your help.

About a year back I bought a domain and started a blog with WP theme there. I kept the url like blog.domain.com and added

good number of content. Actually I had a plan to start own website with own design but due to lack of time and money I could

not able to make my website till today. And now I am thinking to sift my blog direct to my same domain.com. So there would

not be word "blog" in my url.

    And my question is:

    Can I do that?

Will this create problem in SEOing and Ranking?

Pls. clear if you have any confusions.

    Your help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

i think it will create problem because search engines index your site as "blog.domain.com" not "domain.com". But i think some one wp expert can tell you solution. so wait for more answers.

If you do the redirects properly (set each page to redirect to the same page at the new domain) it should not affect your search rankings at all beyond perhaps a small blip in the short-term.

Even if you don't do the redirects properly, and you just shunt everything over in one fell swoop to the new homepage, if your site is young and you anticipate it growing by large amounts in the future, it'll set you back a little bit in the short-term but won't matter in the long-run.

Honestly though? Unless your domain name is prohibitively long, if I were you, I'd keep the separate blog.domain.com. It's descriptive: people can read the URL and will know it's a blog. You may always develop your site later, and then it'll be convenient. I've even thought of merging one or more of my blogs into subdomains of one or more of my domains, and have them be blog.domain.com.

This process is long and difficult. e.g if you have 1000 article then you need long time to redirect each post.

What I would do (I am not a wp expert).

Saving database, install wordpress in the main domain, and edit the database to point to the main domain, by find and replace the URL address.

Doing this way, you will have to start from beginning again about link building..

Be careful with the database though!

Focus on content, from the past 3 years of blogging that's all I gotta say. Write what you like, do a bit of promotion and see how things pick up for you, mate.
