hello all on a discussion I had regarding what is the best seo-wise domain name (not url's, only the domain name), there were 2 options: lets assume that the domain iname must be composed of 3 relevant keywords: search engine optimization which domain name is better seo-wise (not UI or anything related to the user). search-engine-optimization.com searchengineoptimization.com what do u say?
Yep I'd agree that domains without the - are easily to read and view by visitors in search eninges but from an SEO perspective a domain name has not value, it's how you promote it that matters.
Yup no dashes/hyphens is your best bet...but many domain names are already taken so don't be afraid to get one with a dash or two in it! Google treats these as spaces so its ok!
Not everything is about SEO. If you had the dashes, Google will like it more but your amount of returning traffic will lower a lot. If you had one without dashes, users will be easier to see it but Google will rank you just a little less. If you have the money thoguh, you should get both to prevent Google Jackers.
Only about seo-wise, I think the first one would be better. About user-friendly wise, the second one would be better. It depends on what you are really targeting.
SEO wise I would say they are the same. But it's best to use no '-' because if someone manually inputs it a lot can go wrong
i've got a domain name "map-of-X.com" where X is the name of a country. and "mapofX.com" easily beats me in SERPs with fewer backlinks.
No one knows for sure, but the general concensus is that a dash does not effect the rankings of a domain. aabb.com and aa-bb.com would generally be ranked similarly. But as mentioned above, it's more a fact of whether or not your users will remember the dash.
i finally went on with a non dash domain. it's interesting to see that for 3 options we have 4 answers...lol i was under the impression that dashes "highlight" the keywords in the domain. well, thanks again for your help.
Search engines ignore dashes, so there is no difference in SEO terms. The only difference that make the 2nd better is that its more friendly to the user and easier to remember.
You must better consult this guys http://catchydomains.blogspot..com I have the same confusion while buying my domain name they helped in picking out my site with a new domain name[www.guidetotech.com] mate.
That would be a nice domain to have undoubtedly, Its better to avoid the hashes according to me. Also I don't think, .net or .org will hurt you SEO Wise.
