No more submissions please. I'm in the process of working out a deal with a designer. Thanks for the interest!

I want to update the current theme at http://AllFreelanceWriting.com

The original is a custom job, and I don't want to scrap the general formatting or coding. I'd like to just change images, update colors, etc. with a child theme (I hope I'm using that term correctly here). I want something a bit more modern-looking, without making so many changes that readers have to figure the site out all over again (we just did that over the summer).

So basically here's what I want:

    1. I'll send you the original .psd so you have a base to work with and don't have to worry about the general layout. Some of those original elements have since been removed, but I figured it's easier to have you just delete irrelevant layers than start from scratch (not more than a handful of things that have been removed, if even that).

    2. It would be great if the general color scheme stayed the same, but if you need to tweak it, you can. For example, the sidebar doesn't have to be blue, but it would nice if the blue was still incorporated somewhere.

    3. Images can / should nearly all be swapped out. You can ignore the logo -- I'll hire a logo designer to create a new one based on the new design. I'd also like the big RSS button in the header to stay. Again, the layout should be the same (so search, LinkedIn, and Twitter will also need to stay near the top, although you can use different buttons, and the search form appearance should definitely be updated). The writer labels in the sidebar need to change and be updated to something less drab, but should still include the name, title, and photo for example. All of the images in the black bar should also be updated. The bar will stay (doesn't need to be black), and all four of the things there still need to be featured there. I just want it to look different. The headings will change on a few too (I'll give that info to whoever I hire).

    4. The typography needs some serious updating. It's not my strong suit, so it sucks on the current site. I want nice bold headlines that jump out at the reader. I want attention-grabbing headings within posts. I want blockquotes to remain highlighted in some way where they jump out at the reader, but something better than just an indent and color background like there is now.

    5. This was a very image-intensive design previously, which is why I removed some elements -- to cut down on loading times. It's important to me that the load time be improved even more with the child theme. So, for example, the image behind post titles? Scrap it. Make the typography interesting instead. The paper-style images behind sidebar elements? They don't need to be there either. Again, I'd rather you make it look interesting without the need for excess images if possible. I love image-based design, but for this kind of audience, it needs to be a little bit cleaner.

    6. I don't care for dark designs.

Here are some examples of themes or sites I love design-wise if that helps you get a sense of the more modern look I want to go for (for some reason I adore sites with tan backgrounds -- no clue why -- so if you can make it work with the theme, great and if not, that's perfectly fine too -- don't feel like the color schemes on these need to be incorporated into this design).

http://freelanceswitch.com/ (big headlines that grab your attention)

(that site is in the same niche, so I don't want anything too similar -- just giving you a general taste of the style I enjoy)

http://themeforest.net/item/purecorpwp-wordpress-promo-theme/51758 (the theme featured; not themeforest itself)

I'm having a hard time finding ones with sidebars I like as an example, but I'll send whoever I hire some more links. The paper background types of themes appeal to me, since this is an audience of writers, but again, if it means slow load times, it's not worth it.

PM me your quotes and a link to your portfolio (DON'T post here to say you're interested -- it's against the rules). If I don't find someone in a day or two then I might just make a contest of it. Remember, this is just for a layered psd. I'll have the original site coder take care of the new stylesheet and coding issues.

Sorry about that. I thought I turned it back on after my last break. PMs are turned back on for all members now, so anyone interested should be able to get through. If it's still a problem for any reason, just email me at instead.

Also note that payments will be made via Paypal.
