Need Wordpress Advice

I want to be able to allow certain members of my blog to be authors. I need to control which category they can post in and dis-allow anyone else the ability to post at all.

I use what is now called Gootix Paybox (formally know as wpboard) to charge for access to the site.

Any ideas on what I could use to employ some author control?

You can definitely assign members different roles e.g. make one an author, contributor, administrator.
I am not sure if and how you could allow/disallow posting in categories

I think you can use the Post Levels plugin for that purpose.

The latest WP allows to assign roles to users like authors, adminsitrators, members

 

I never knew about the latest WP's feature.
