Need Wordpress 1.5.2

I don't know about everyone else but I am not thrilled with the new Wordpress 2.0

I wold like to install the older version (1.5.2) becasue I knw all my plugins will work on it. Does anyone know where I can download it?

 

If you have an SVN client (like TortoiseSVN for Windows) you can get most past versions (well, pre-1.5 was CVS instead of SVN, but) and download root/tags/1.5.2/ from them (see it web-based here - http://trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.5.2/).

I've exported and zipped up 1.5.2 here - http://nathanwwong.com/wp1.5.zip

No gaurantees or anything, take it up with WP if it doesn't work.

FYI: Your plugins will work and also, there are a lot of security fixes which means you are letting yourself be open to attacks if you use an older version. This is the case with any online application, so just be sure you know the risk you are taking of running old software.

I did not run out and snag WP2 yet. I am waiting about a month to see what pops up.

There ARE problems with 2.0 still. If you use permalinks you'll probably run into them, although custom permalinks works fine on one of my blogs there are two others where it does not (404 not found error). What's frustrating is that they are all hosted on the same server and worked fine before upgrading. If you have a large blog I would and use permalinks I would save a backup copy that way if you want to go back to the old version you can.

There are several threads going on this on the WP forum, plus a couple file patches you can try...but they didn't help for me.

seems like such a pain in the butt upgrading all the timea and for what reason??

From what I understand this is a major update and does address some security issues. You can always install and then install if you have problems...not everyone is having trouble...I have three blogs I updated and one of them works perfectly fine.

I do like the new look as well as a lot of the basic features they've added (which previously you had to use plugins for).

 

Thanks for the 1.5.2 download...I have a theme I want to run, but 2.0 messes it up so i need to digress back to 1.5
