So, I just got kicked off my previous streaming server Apparently we were only paying $30 a month for a 24/7 windows media stream that we serve up... the existing company wants around $500 a month, and I think this might be on the low side. Basically, take a look here: http://www.nbc6.net/wxplusvideo/4573305/detail.html While this is not the TV station that I work at, we are an NBC affiliate and would be shooting you our stream of that same service so host up. I don't have the traffic details with me right now, but I'd say we're looking at the potential for a couple hundred simultanious connections during peak hours. The page that links this stream gets around 100,000 uniques a month, often more. I know this isn't giving very many details but I'm just testing the waters trying to collect whatever information I can. Thanks!
I suppose the action carried out by your previous hosting company was in regards to the resource usage of your hosting account. If you are looking for some good hosting, then i would suggest you to provide us with more information.
What would you like to know? I don't have the specific bandwidth numbers with me but I suspect them to be very high with such a stream running 24/7 with peak usage from 12-5PM CST. We also would like a 2ndary streaming channel that would only run from 5:30-7am, 12noon-12:30, and 5-5:30, 6-6:30, and 10-10:30
If you are looking for a dedicated server, please contact me. We can have you set up within 24 hours. Thanks, Nick | Panecta Nick {@} support.panecta.com
I would guess that this would need at least one dedicated server, we're talking the potential for several-hundred, if not nearly a thousand simultanious connections to the 2 windows media streams... with extreme growth potential as we will be heavily marketing the service.
I guess I should note as well that the server(s) should be in a US datacenter, and the closer to the middle of the country the better as our primary user-base is located not just in the USA, but in the state of Missouri
