I want to make a site where people can become members, input information about things they own which would get input into some sort of database. My goal: to be able to send a text message and email to the person when updates are available for the items they input in the database (ie their software or other products they have.) What would be the best way to set something like that up? I dont have any database experience yet, so I need a noob-watered down version please!
Do a google search into mySQL and PHP. mySQL is a free database software which is implemented into almost every hosting company. It works fantastic with PHP which is free also. After that you will need to look up how to send an SMS with a script, Im not to sure how to do that but i know everything else can be done with mySQL and PHP together.
