I am creating a news site with wordpress. I will syndicate news by RSS from various sources but the problem is i get the full feed. I only want to show the first two lines(to escape duplicate content penalty) and then a 'read more' tag which will point to the original source. How can I do it with wordpress?? Thanks guys.
You can choose the feed will show title of posts only or summary of text. So how much charaters will be showed, it depends on settings for of source site. Regards.
i use the plugin 'feedwordpress' to get the news..but there is not setting to scrape either full or partial content..i just want to show a gist of the news..is it something to do with changing the template code??? I have no coding knowledge..so i need help
You should customize your template/code for better result of plugin output. You can read readme file of feedwordpress plugin for more usage. Or you can PM me for reviewing and fixed your problem.
Rome9t9: There are a number of ways to do this. Personally, for feeds I would recommend you use Feedburner as it does a nice job of making them look nice.. and you can integrate adsense into them. Also, you can see differnet formats of your feeds by visiting various links such as http://yoururl/feed/atom etc.. Hope that helps.
Hi. thanks for respone but you took me wrong. actually I am scraping content from other sites to my blog. But my sources are providing full feed. So I am getting full articles on my blog. But I want to show only 2-3 lines on my blog. Hope i have made myself clear
I did all that..still got no response.. Is this prob that difficult coders?? I dont know coding but with the low response i get i feel its quite difficult..
