Need urgent advice on getting paid via paypal.

    Hi there folks,

I am planning to sell something of around USD 300. Selling some account. The buyer would pay me via paypal.

I am just worried about unfair Chargebacks or being paid by some stolen account. What can I do to avoid chargebacks once The account has been sold? As I would have no way to reclaim the account.

    Advice would be appreciated greatly.

from what i understand, as long as you didn't sell through ebay and you didn't sell a tangible item, it's going to be very very difficult for the buyer to initate a chargeback if he paid through funds in his paypal account.

i got caught in the hyip schemes earlier and couldn't do a thing even though some of the organizers are pure fraudsters... and for a small sum of $300, i don't think paypal will go out of the way to take action...

ah, i'd be suspicious then. why not tell him that you'd do the deal in dp. that way you save on commissions too.

You're not going to get any way to guarantee against a chargeback. If the member is relatively new with little or no history/rep and you want to be extra safe, just ask him to send you a Money Order by mail.

There is NO guarentee that you wont get a chargback - its just a risk of doing business.

If you are worried, you can use escrow for the transaction. Otherwise, if you use accept the paypal account, make sure that you only release the site details after you determine that the one paying you is a verified and registered user of paypal. This give you one additional level of security to say that he is who he say he is. Check the reputation of the person here and if possible at other boards, you should get a feel of the person and whether it is worth the trouble working with him.
