Need to upgrade, willing to hire a pro

I am a humor blogger and I now own http://humorbloggers.com - it is nothing fancy and don't laugh, but I built it myself (I am NOT a web designer obviously ) but I just wanted to get it started and get it in the search engines.

I have so much interest from other bloggers wanting to join, so now I want to upgrade it to an attractive, relatively simple membership website where humor blogger members can log in and modify elements on their own public bio pages as well as a few other things.

Try using Wordpress MU with Buddypress. It's opensource, so you can do what you like to it, and it'd be good for the job.
