hello, i have this problem where when i am trying to highlight a certain part of a word, it tries at first to highlight the ENTIRE word. which is a big pain when you are coding and trying to only select parts of code in a line. any ideas? must be a setting somewhere but i can't find it.
haha yea... using a tablet actually. so when i want to select for example "point" of the word: "digitalpoint" it'll automatically select the entire word. and only after multiple tries will it then just let me select part of the word. it's like it's trying to help me highlight the entire word thinking that's what i want in the first place. it appears to do it on any program on my computer. outlook..word...etc etc.
Well Outlook and Word are both crap. So there's your problem You're not seriously coding in Word are you? I know there's some setting in Word to disable it - I remember going crazy when I was using Word on my mums computer a while ago. You could of course just install OpenOffice instead Open Notepad and see if it does it. If not, then it's just MS 'helping you'.
notepad does the same thing. not using word to code. haha. so it must be a general setting somewhere. btw..i'm using VIsta. my XP never had this issue.i want to say that when i was setting up either vista or the tablet, there was some option for that. going to plug in a mouse and see if it's just the tablet.
I have no problems with Word 2003, i can click anywhere in the text and select what I need. A solution may be to Print to PDF (if you install Adobe Acrobat Pro you'll get a virtual printer that creates PDF file) and use Adobe Acrobat to select words, it allows you to select what you need.
haha. okay...mouse works. so much be a tablet. i'll look at the options there again and i guess reinstall drivers. thanks for the help...at least i was able to isolate it. maybe i should flip my avatar so it points at me instead.
