Need to increase pitifully low Adsense CTR on my image website. Suggestions please?

EDIT: Sorry, I deleted my URL from this post! I'd rather not have a backlink here. I bumped this thread to edit it cause I couldn't delete it. But anyway, to everyone who gave me suggestions, thank you! I haven't decided on any big changes just yet, but I'm still mulling things over. :) My main focus will be content for now!

    --

I have a website on which I posted many original clip art designs for people to use for free. It’s been up for only one month now, and I’m getting a decent amount of traffic (currently 3500 to 5000 page views per day). However, my click-through rate is pitiful… my overall average is 0.15%.

I’ve placed ads on the Adsense heat map hot spots. I’m using both text and image ads. I made sure the text ads matched the color scheme of the website. I can’t figure out what I’d need to change in order to increase my CTR. I’ve looked through suggestions on other threads and such, but nothing has really helped.

Could it be that because my website’s content is images rather text, that people are too distracted by my drawings to even notice the ads?

Could it be that my content is good enough to where people are finding what they need and thus not needing to click on ads? Just grabbing the free goods and taking off?

Or could it be that I’m not getting very good ads yet because my website is only a month old and I have a low page rank in Google?

Whatever the case is, there seems something very wrong with getting only 2 clicks out of 4000 page views. My CTR ranged from 0.05% to 0.39% and no higher than that. If I could get my average CTR up to 2% or even just 1%, it would make a world of difference!

Any tips or suggestions on increasing my CTR are much appreciated!

Thanks for the suggestion! But I've actually already tried that.. My text ads have been maroon red, purple, and then I settled on dark blue. The color change didn't seem to make any difference... :(

Text, images and header too large perhaps.

I would also try a leaderboard at bottom, horizontal 5-ad linkunit at top, and a 300x250 perhaps near the top if possible... wrapped around an intro blurb of text maybe. The 300x250's do awesome, at least for me. I wrap my text around them and have them border-less.

The biggest one is to follow the Adsense policy. If you try to chear you will get banned.

For short articles, CTR are in be placed above the content. This is the best spot to help CTR.

If you have a long article, try placing the ads in the middle of the content. This will improve your CTR.

Your Site Rocks Boss. You have come up with such a great Site! Dont get disheartened by Ad result my friend. Now here is what you should seriously do!
    1) Drupal's Access control as it comes is not really appreciable. Everything is a free launch. So you cant get joining. There is nothing for people to comment onto and share. As your theme is sharing art, great do that.

    2) Also Here is what you do.
    Custom Clip Art for Themes
Add this Tab in your menu. Write a Nice small article about how capable you are to offer wonderful clip art for theme designers. Make a set of clipt art for a site specific requirement. Like forums or CMS site and also add it in menu. Clip art for Websites.
And you leave an option for communicating with you for providing custom clip arts for the themes.

Why wait like beggers before your visitors when you can actually earn in thousands. Your skill are too good for AdSense.

Offer this changes and 6 months later, surely you are going to gift me a 100$ for my timely advice to what is best for you. It looks tough but I see a future in your site. Go baby go.... opportunity calling.
