My website SERP description is getting from the footer, can any one help me to fix this. I need to display the description from my <meta description> on SERP description. Thanks in Advance
I think when ur website was alive Google indexed your website and fetch description from ur website footer area, but after that u posted the meta description into ur website. plz wait for some time for google to re-index ur website and fetch new information.
please check the site theitdepot in google. In SERP description it is giving description from Footer.
Google is showing your meta tag description: "Online Shopping, Theitdepot, Cyber Space Abacus, Antec india,Laptops, Cabinets,Speakers,Mouse,Keyboards,Laptop Assessories,Antec, Headphones,Desktop PC,Printers, Memory(RAM),MP3 Player, Processors, Motherboards,Pen Drives,Hard drives,Webcam, Wireless Products, USB Products,Graphic Card,Gaming Products, Antivirus, Operating System" It's not very descriptive.
You can make your meta descriptio sound like a complete meaningful sentence in order for it to consider displaying it in the serp's. May be google is displaying from the footer the serp snippet because, there it found complete meaningful sentence,. Rewrite your meta description and increase fact true online content ont he same webpage, and then measure the results again after google recrawls your site again.
If your meta description is the wrong length, either too short or too long, then it won't be shown - between 120 and 150 characters should work
Excuse my ignorance. Doesn't Google 'strip' it if it's too long and just displays a part? Or does it refrain from displaying the whole meta description altogether?
Hello Sheeba1 ... Here's what you do to get your Description on SE results ... Here's an idea of what your head, title, meta name's should look like before the Body of your page... if you are using standart HTML language... I only know HTML language. <html> <head> <title>Your Webpage Title Here </title> <meta name="DESCRIPTION" content="Your Website Description Here!"> <meta name="KEYWORDS" content="your, keywords, here, separated, by, commas"> <meta name="robots" content="index, follow"> <meta name="revisit-after" content="3 days"> </head> <body> YOUR WEBSITE CONTENT HERE... </body> </html> This will make the search engines know what to list when indexing your webpage(s) ... SE's will list your Title and Description when indexing your page... I always... use This Free Meta Tag Analyzer when optimizing your site: http://www.seocentro.com/tools/search-engines/metatag-analyzer.html Just type in your website and anti-spam code... and click submit .. this analyzer will tell you immediately if there are errors and what they are. Hope this helps... if you have any other questions feel free! Dan
