mirturk you should have mentioned that earlier, I have already made the purchase at domainsite :( Not that a dollar or two could have saved my life, but godaddy was kinda more attractive to me in the first place. Thanks for the info anyway, now I will know for my next purchase, and I'm sure someone else would find it useful

I've read around about these guys, there were some guys complaining a little bit about their support and control panel not working properly, but I didn't find any shocking complain about them(fee for transferring the domain to a different registrar or not allowed change of dns..) except for the renewal price($9.99) which is a bit higher than the standard for .com. But one can always transfer the domain to godaddy or elsewhere after the first year so..

Yes, actually when I said a decent registrar I was referring to just that.Reliable, kind enough to allow dns change, low renewal price, free and easy domain transfer and free or cheap whois protection if possible. Thats why I mentioned godaddy namecheap and alike.. From now on, I will be referring to these kind of domain sellers as: "cheap enough" - they are pretty cheap, and offer fair enough services(for a site builder like me that is). :)

I guess Yahoo are kind of alike to domainsarefree. Very cheap, everything a sitebuilder would need, but a high renewal price, which is not that big of a problem since the transfer of the domain to a different registrar after one year is free so I think we can look through that and qualify them as "one year cheap enough" :) .

*my comments about these companies are not from personal experience, but from reads I could find through the forum, so don't blame me if anything said is not quite correct and please feel free to correct/add anything about these statements of mine
