Need to appear in UK listings but not!

    Cheers for the thoughts on this subject, i imagine that being a .co.uk will help google realise where you are located where .org obviously can't. If it matters to me enough, i'll move it onto some of my own hosting packages in the UK

    The site is done on behalf of a sports committee with results and stuff like that - they chose the .org and when I reg'd it i wasn't as knowledgeable as I am now :confused: :p to buy the .com (which has since been reg'd). .co.uk was already taken also.

    Interesting, but I was hoping for something a little more recent.
    I did, however, find this entry in the Google Sitemaps blog "Tips for Non-U.S. Sites" (Jul 2006):

    This suggests that you only need a .uk domain name, or a UK IP address. I've yet to find any firm evidence that says having both is better than just one of these - if I do then I'm definately moving hosts.

    There was one guy in this other thread (Feb 2004) with .co.uk domain who moved to a UK host, and did see a slight change in his secondary SERPs...
