I started to work on non-english tech news website. So far it seemed to work...gradully incresing the number of visitors. The project is an older one that was abandoned and now it is restarted. it has been about three weeks since I restarted the site and I have 20-30 uniques/day. I know it is not much, but since I've done little to no promotion to it I am rather pleased. But now I want to see if I can get more. I don't plan to invest any money right now until I know that the site has potential. I have set up a newslist for user to subscribe today and also have a facebook page (this is from the first time the site was up). Most of the traffic (70%) is from google. I did manage to get 1st to 5th position in Google for "telefon android", "telefoane android", "android telefon" and am on the first page for several others keywords related to mobile phones, tablets and tech in general. I write articles almost daily (1-4/day usually). Sadly, the number of direct visits and returning visits are very low. I need a few tips on how i can promote the site, convince people to subscribe to the newsletter and join the facebook pbage. I know that forum posting and stuff like that help but I don't want to seem as a spammer on forums. I know contests also help a lot, but I don't know what exactly to offer. A tablet, celphone or laptop is rather expensive and I don't want to invest until I know it is worth it. Any suggestions on what to offer are appreciated as well. Thanks.
You should write articles which are completely original, not relaying informations of somewhere else. I don't think that you will get more visitors by writing a lot of different articles, just take the time to write one that would be very interesting
The articles I write are most of them original. I don't just copy->paste. I document my news from many websites before I write a news article and every now and then (on important news like Google buying Motorola) I also write 100% original articles that analyze the event, write the impact it has on the consumer and other stuff that aren't taken from anywhere. I also decided to offer a giveaway for the email/like on facebook. Any ideas on what I can offer that isn't already widely spread on the internet?
Can you make a twitter account targeted towards your specific language and just keep following people that are interested in your niche. Then when you add new content to your site you can tweet it out to them. Find another high Authority site around your niche and add content to that but linking back to your site.
I made a contest right now where I will offer the game LIMBO as a prize for a lucky subscriber to the newsletter. This should give me a few subscribers at a rather low cost. The game only costs 10 euros. I will update with my results in a month
