Hi guys, I just have a little question. There's http://www.zlio.com/ , where you can get your own shop for example myshop.zlio.com . Now that's not good enough for competitve keywords. So this is why one can "upgrade" and get a domain. Now I needed to know if such a domain would be SEO-friendly or if it would just be a redirect or just a frame solution. I requested this info and they said: no frame, no redirect, it's done with CNAME. Now I read about CNAME but I dont get it. It's an alias for the domain, but is it SEO friendly so that the shop is directly on my domain? Will the domain be able to get a good google listing? thank you very much!
Hi, Using a CNAME or A record for a host name has NOTHING to do with SEO as they will simply not take it into account. A lot of people tend to confuse a CNAME with a redirect. A CNAME basically means "hey you should have the same IP address as whatever this domain has." For SEO it would depend a lot how they let you use your own domain on that site. For example if they set up the new domain as an Alias for the name content you have setup now you'd probably want to change one of them to 301 redirect to the other. What your really looking for is a SEO expert.
