Need suggetion: VPS or Dedicated

Hi, I got a new site that running now on softlayer dedicated server, site size very big total 292GB. Now I need a suggestion, what you think which will be better to get a dedicated server with 6 core CPU (softlayer) + 16GB ram or VPS with 12 core CPU with 32GB ram (linode/amazon or any other cloud provider)?

 

I am running my websites on Shape.host VPS and they run very smoothly, never had problems. I would go for the VPS rather than dedicated.

Just keep your Dedicated Server. You wont be able to use the same speed and to abuse cores in a VPS.

 

Thank you, actually I bought that site and need transfer it to my own server, my other sites are hosted on Amazon but this site getting huge traffic and you know Amazon is charge for bandwidth and no way to keep current server so I am thinking to go with cloud server. You think its better use dedicated server with same old configuration right? or I go with high end cloud server?

I think a hosted dedicated server would be the best, which would automatically take care of backups, connectivity, maintenance etc. You can go in for apps4rent that has the machines in US-based, top-tier data centers. These come with a lot of features like network load balancing, OS support etc.

 

My site hosted now on softlayer and I think softlayer is one of the top 3 dedicated server provider, so If I take dedicated then I will must use softlayer again or leasweb.
