Need Suggestions

Hi I am in need of suggestions on where to get hosting that would accomodate for the following needs:

I am wanting to operate a "network" that would offer premium services at it's best.

    I want to offer:
    - Free image hosting
    - Free phpBB hosting
    - Possibly A chain of proxy sites or maybe just a few
    - and any other high quality content such as a scripts database, etc.

I would like to offer these things at highest speeds possible (means no lag or slow load times to ensure quality service).

I reckon I would need a Dedicated Server for this but if so, any suggestions on what I should aim for if this network is to expand and grow with a lot of traffic, members, and bandwidth usage?

More so, which hosting company should I purchase from?

    Thanks

I recommend a dedicated server due to the resources you plan on using. You may start with a simple VPS with 2 IP's and when you grow simply upgrade. Check out hostww.net - submit a billing ticket and quote "Zebulon" in the subject line and they will cut you a great deal.

    Thanks for the input zebulon.

I am aiming for a dedicated server of course but I was wondering what kind of specs I will need for best performance and which company would give the best deal.

specs - aim for 1or2gb ram, 2.4ghz processor, minimum of 2 IPs, 80mb port switch, go with CentOS for your O/S (windows has a tendacy to crash when running multiple connecting sockets for install commands), security aim for mod_security and remote site backups, your harddrive space should be roughly 80-100GB to start off, but you can manage with lower till you become more active. bandwidth, simple formula = RootUsers x 10mb x remoteusers = GB usage...i estimate 50 general root's so 500mb's, by remotes so lets say 1000 for a 7-10month forecast, so thats 500gb's /mth will keep you safe. however, for the first few months 200 should be fine
i hope that little blurb could help you out. if you need hosting solutions let me know.

given that you'll be hosting proxies, you probably won't find a reputable provider that will allow that. For your situation, I recommend a VPS or dedicated server.

Hi Buddy, I have tried many hosting companies. Every too often it so happens that many not-so-reputed hosting companies come over, give great offers, and then when they are not able to continue they sell their company out to other hosting companies. Infact, that is the motivation behind many hosting companies. Then a lot of troubles ahead for the website owners.

I would suggest you go with a reputed name in the industry. Recently I am hosting my sites at Hostgators. I am very happy with them. If you want to try this host risk free, opt for their "baby plan" and use the coupon code "freemonth" on this link, and you can try them for a month for just $0.01.

Believe me, they are really good..

If you plan on running proxy,s then contact wdservers, you need to know that running proxy's on the same servers as your other shared accounts is not always wise.

    Farhan5, 110mb doesn't allow proxies and it's not a image host.

So it wouldn't match his requirements.
