I've done a few directory submissions, commented a few times here and there, and tried to do some on page SEO. I was wondering if you guys have any good suggestions for specifically an e-commerce site. I noticed we're getting about 50 organic a day from google... but about 40 of the search terms are something like "empire board games" (it's http://www.empireboardgames.com)
So alot of the traffic you are getting is from empire board games and that is probably because of the fact that you are building backlinks already for your website and your website address contains those keywords so that is what you are being found for through the search engines. So if you want to be found for different search terms you need to build backlinks for those search terms back to your website. So start building links back to your website with anchor texts of the search terms you want to be found for.
I've also been trying to optimize e-comm site that sells products online. I've tried directory submission, article submission, social bookmarking etc to build links. Let me mention that I've created backlinks with two or three important keywords, but still I am on page three of Google. Any specific optimization tips would greatly help. Thanks for the support... You have to gather more quality backlinks. Do some social book marking and social media optimization for your site into Digg, Stumble Upon and other recommended sites. Subscribe some high quality blogs and post genuine comments with link on your anchor text. Be an active members of some good forums and add link in signature. All these small things help you to increase traffic to your site.
1) for e commerce sites, Search engine friendly url is one of important factor. so, first of all do that. 2) keyword and meta tag optimization as always required. 3) Site map. 4) if possible start blog or add blog. 5) Or add forum 6) submit minimum 1000 link directories in next couple of week 7) Do social bookmarking
