Hi everybody, I'm planning to do a small Wordpress blog network ( 48 blogs)
I never manage a dedicated servers, I'm reading that hostgator it is a good choice.
How to choose the right plan? ( new blogs so low traffic for few months)

Which is the importance to have an unique IP or different IP's ?

What is the difference between dedicated e virtual private server? dedicated is the whole server and virtual is a part of it, right?

maybe too much questions in a thread...sorry

I would advise against hostgator. They may be good for one or two websites, but when you start getting traffic they'll kick you off their servers saying that you use too much/many server resources. If you anticipate getting high traffic, then a VPS or dedicated would be best for you. A VPS is a section/partition/portion of the dedicated server, but you have your own RAM/CPU usage limit. Unique IPs won't be neccesary for you as your one network, not reselling the space out to other people.

Overall, i think a VPS would be best for you. You can start with a small one (with low resources) then upgrade as your sites gain traffic. This way your not wasting un-necessary money. I would stick well away from shared/reseller hosting as you can use very little system resources, and If your running a blog network, you'll be using alot of them.

I run a couple of VPSs currently for clients, and I could set your own private one up for you if you want and manage it.

just so everyone knows, hostgator offers fully managed dedicated servers already with Cpanel startinf at $175 a month. Thats a good price, since cpanel itself is $25 a month, and they are fully managed (unless i read something wrong). Should be enough, if you really need a lot of IP's for SEO purposes, seohosting.com might be for you, which is also owned by hostgator

Well hostgator would not be my choice for shared hosting but i'm sure you'll find plenty of decent hosts that can offer good deals on a dedicated server. Maybe check the offers section here or at webhostingtalk.com
