I want to create a webiste so that i can get people to donate to the website and then we donate the money to a cancer society.. Anybody have any suggestions? i have the domain curecancerbillboard.com
Don't get yourself in the middle of the donation process, you will create tax/legal headaches. You are better off to just make it easy for your users to find how to donate directly to the cancer-related charities.
Nice initiative but it will require alot of vetting done by folks unrelated to you and the task at hand. This is fairly serious business. You need to be on board with folks who would take said donation and get help from their non profit.... You would also want to be a registered corporation with non profit status(off the top of my head at least) Nigel
That's certainly the easiest thing to do and will inspire more trust from your visitors. Contact one of the major cancer charities that you really respect and ask them if they can provide a link for your website, so that visitors can contribute directly to them by clicking on the link, which will take them directly to their donation page. In other words just create a funnel, to send that traffic directly to the cancer charity that you are trying to help.
If you start with donating to existing funds/charities -- it is your best interest to not fudge the numbers at all... May lead to big problems. Maybe thing up a different route like you said.
You need collaborate with other charity site such as church etc. If your site visitor want to donate,you can redirect them to the church site. And they donate at there.
This is great, but have you considered the tax implications for doing this? It would suck if you raised all this money, but you need to pay some percentage of the fees you raised to taxes. Talk to your accountant if you want to really go through with this!
