And how do YOU go about getting EDu backlinks?

You need to first socially bookmark your site

do a free press release at prlog.org

    write an article for ezine

that should give you a nice start

then do blog commenting and put a link to your site in your signature here

of course EDU backlinks would be great....but those are quite hard to get

Lets Google index some more pages from your site. Before applying backlink tactics for generating higher PR, let Google be believe your site as a white. Internal links also help you to get PR vote from one to another. Anyhow, if you want to jump to link building world, you must follow @HighRollerT tics. BUT better you just give more time to develop your contents and use various way to present your contents user friendly.

Start with all the free methods first. Directory submissions, forum posting (currently doing), high pr blog commenting, press release writing, article writing. After that you can either outsource these efforts or explore new methods. Cheers

Search google for ".gov/forum" and find posts to reply to, putting backlink to your site(s) in the signature. Also you can search on country specificity, i. ex: "in.gov/forum" etc. Supposed to be good links, ofcourse you also need .com etc links, so search for relevant keywords on "google news" for instance, and find high PR blogs you can comment on.

Just remember to not be too spammy :)

Find out the method you feel it as easy and do it in proper way. You will get backlinks. I suggest you to start with directory submission.

The free suggestions are a great starter, and if you get the budget, I agree you can outsource or look into some good quality paid links.

Once you have a system you are used to, you will find it easier and quicker to roll out content etc. Good luck

    Build contextual links from
    - guest blog post
    - forum posting
    - article directories

Make sure your back links are dofollow and on relevant pages to your niche to see better results.

Also, make sure to get high quality back links by filtering pages with too many outbound links, external links to non-relevant pages like Casino, etc.

dude, honestly, read through the forums. This question has been asked about a million times here. If not, go to seobook.com or seomoz or something. You'll get all of the information you need.

Just looking at the similar threads below, I can tell that one of those threads has some good advice.

Who the hell says "and many more"?!

More specifically, you'll want to use something like "allinurl:.gov/showthread.php" it also will work with .edu, .com, .info, .net, and any other domain extension. You want to pay close attention to the way URLs are constructed, especially if you ever decide to automate your processes.

    "allinurl:edu/shothread"

Don't spam only .edu and .gov sites, you'll be missing out on some good placements if you understand how to properly search for sites. Plus, what good is an SEO if they don't understand the basic principles of a friggin search engine? Seriously... Learn how to manually refine searches so you don't have to sift through a buttload of crap (pun intended).

Make sure when you build links to a new site, try and make sure you don't build them too quickly, and keep your backlinking looking natural. The last thing you want to do is to get your new site dropped into the Google sandbox!

Get 25 free lifetime back links from textlinks. The link is in my signature.

Also free directories, forum signatures, blog comments and so forth is good at the beginning.

Spend time where college students hang out. Facebook and other social networking sites, etc. Try to advertise your site there. Build links when you can.
