Sounds like a Google Panda slap. Try searching "copyscape" and use the service to see if it is about content copying. If it is then track down who is doing it and threaten them with legal action. Look at where the links to your site are coming from - if they are from link farms and non themed links on forums and blogs then this is why. The Google panda update is either removing or downgrading sites that have been doing this.
